I'm Watch Official Launch On CES 2012

The first Android-based smartwatch running on Freescare i.MX233 processor, packs a 1.54" capacitive touchscreen and uses Bluetooth to synchronize with your smartphone (Android and iPhone compatible). Also capable of running Android apps (that take advantage of the I'm Watch's API) will be officially launch at 2012 International CES Las Vegas.

At first glance it might look like an iPod Nano knock-off, with its grid, 4-icon interface, but after closer inspection it’s actually Android 1.6 running on a tiny screen (which looks very cute – especially when it comes to pulling down the notifications tray). It sports a relatively weak battery life (2 days standby or half a day with heavy usage) so don’t expect to go for days without charging.

The key features as you can see in the video is:
  • 464 MHz i.MX233 CPU
  • 64 MB 166 MHz LPDDR RAM
  • 4 GB eMMC Flash Drive
  • Battery powered
  • Bluetooth
  • 1.54" 220 dpi 240 x 240 display
  • Integrated mic and 1W speaker
  • Stereo jack for audio, USB and recharge
  • Capacitive touch screen
Upon making a connection with your device, the I’m Watch gives you access to multiple applications, like Facebook, Twitter, Email, and text messages. It is even possible to answer incoming calls with it, much like those classic science fiction movies we all love. This Android watch connects to your device via bluetooth, but it can also sync through WiFi hotspot.

The price for one of these spy watches will be 249 (around US$360), which is a bit of an investment, but it is a very cool and convenient gadget to have. If you feel luxurious though, there is also the I’m Jewel, which is available in 6 different colors – yellow gold, pink gold, white gold & diamonds, titanium, black gold, and special. Now these fancy boys start at a whooping 599 (about US$860), and can go higher depending on the design. If you want the Rolex of the Android world, this may be the way to go.

Check out their website for even more details, and let us know what you think of these new watches. Do you think you will be getting one of these (They are available for pre-order here)? If so, which color and design do you prefer?

Google plans Nexus tablet launch in time for Google I/O - Eric Schmidt

Ever since the launch of the Motorola Xoom, Android fans have been waiting for a Nexus branded tablet from Google, and the company's executive chairman, Eric Schmidt has said we could see one in 6 months. This seems like the perfect time for Google to make this move, because Google is finally leaving the weird offshoot OS version, Honeycomb behind and moving forward with a unified Android ecosystem and Ice Cream Sandwich.

Schmidt made the comment while speaking with an Italian, Corriere della Sera. Schmidt said, "in the next six months we plan to market a tablet of the highest quality", and noted that smartphone market specifically will see brutal competition between Google Android and Apple.

A nexus tablet seemed pretty much inevitable with the release of Ice Cream Sandwich, because at its root, Nexus devices are developer reference devices. At last year's Google I/O, the company gave away the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to developers, but it's about time Google had a tablet to call its own. Given that Google I/O 2012 is just over 6 months away, it seems reasonable that Google wants the Nexus tablet out in time for the developer conference.

Unfortunately, there's no more word on the tablet. At the least it seems reasonable that it will include a quad-core processor, but beyond that we don't know what to expect or even who the hardware partner will be. Given the quality of their Android tablets in the market, it seems likely that Samsung and Asus are on the short list to be that partner.

Google Rolls-out Ice Cream Sandwich To Nexus S Now

Google officially started their OTA of an Ice Cream Sandwich software upgrade for the GSM version of the Samsung Nexus S. You might want to get your hands on the official build right away. A helpful guy at the XDA forum found out the details and it worked perfectly fine for both i9020 and i9023 model.

To make the transition from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich easier, Google has posted an update on their support page for Nexus S to indicate how doing certain common tasks like changing the wallpaper or adding widgets to a home screen has changed in Ice Cream Sandwich. They've also mentioned new features, like the built-in method for taking screenshots.

Here's the instruction of how to manually update the software.

IMPORTANT: This update works only for the GSM version of the Nexus S and will not work for the CDMA version. You also need to have an updated phone with the latest Android version which is 2.3 Gingerbread.
  1. Download the official build here.
  2. Rename it to update.zip
  3. Copy to the root folder of your device.
  4. Enter the bootloader of your phone.
  5. In the bootloader screen menu, navigate to Recovery menu.
  6. Select "apply update from /sdcard" and then select the update.zip file.
  7. After finish updating, go back and "Reboot system now".
  8. That's it.

Google Introduces Currents: Flipboard-like News Reader For Android, iOS

Google is striving to give us beautiful yet simple ways to experience all the content the web has to offer, such as sharing photos on Google+, wacthing YouTube videos, RSS subscriptions and discovering books, movies and music from Android Market. The company's rumored Flipboard competitor is finally here, Google Currents. The app is a tablet and phone-friendly and available for both Android and iOS users to download.

Google said it has partnerships with 150 publishing partners, including CNET, AllThingsD, Forbes and the Huffington Post, all offering full-length articles. It is said that the app is a self-service that lets publishers customize the feel and the look of their content, allowing even small organizations to create their own digital publications for Google Currents.  -- Roger Cheng (CNET)
Great content needs a great audience, which is why Google Currents is integrated with Google+ so users can share articles or videos they've enjoyed with their circles. Publishers can also associate their account with Google Analytics in order to increase their awareness of consumers' content preferences, device use and geographic distribution.

Bad news is that right now only US users can download Google Currents is now available in Android Market and the Apple App Store. Whether you are a reader or a publisher, Google Currents helps you experience the best content on the web.

Facebook just annouced an update of Facebook app for Android and it should be available in the Market today. It's now quicker and easier to view photos, get messages and navigate around the apps. The update seem to focus about speed although they've made major changes on its UI.

Photos and albums are up to two times faster than the previous versions. Also improved photo sharing, easier to view comments and editing captions on the go.

Notifications has also been moved to the top of the screen which is kind of similar to desktop version of Facebook. The menu is placed on the top left side of the screen, just like in Android stock browser, allowing quick navigation to move between categories.

Galaxy Nexus Will Not Support Google Wallet on Verizon - Google

Galaxy Nexus, which was developed by Samsung in partnership with Google, will debut with the Web giant's mobile payments system, Google Wallet, disabled by Verizon's choice confirming a story reported by Computerworld.

It is unknown whether that omission is related to Isis, a partnership Verizon Wireless formed with AT&T and T-Mobile USA in an attempt to enter the mobile payments business. Verizon Wireless representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Sprint is the one and only carrier partner currently offering the service. As more smartphones equipped with NFC (near-field communications) come on the market, more carriers are expected to offer the service while several other companies have announced plans to launch their own digital wallets. Google Wallet was the first to market, which launched in September, allows Android smartphones users with the NFC-equipped technology to tap their smartphones to make purchases.

Meanwhile, Isis is working on a different approach, offering a neutral platform that serves as a foundation for other parties such as retailers, credit card issuers and paymnent networks that can plug in and offer their own services to customers. It doesn't access any of the customer data and expected to launch in 2012.

If this development will be carried out, it is most likely to dissapoint many Android fans who had been looking forward for
Samsung's Galaxy Nexus release date.

Portable Chromium OS in USB just for you.

Credit to developer Hexxeh for this build. You can follow him on Google+ in here.

Before this build there was an earlier version of this OS known as Vanilla build. Link here. Unfortunately, some of the laptops' WiFi and graphic card wasn't supported in vanilla build. They were great, but didn't work on every device out there, and if your device wasn't fully supported, you were kind of left out in the cold. Now, he's created a new build called Chromium Lime, which adds drivers including Brooadcom, Ralink , Realtek Wi-Fi cards, and NVIDIA graphic cards.

It also comes with Java, fewer system requirements and many more. If you tried installing Chromium OS before and it didn't work, with this latest build there's a good chance your device is now supported. If not, you can contact him @Hexxeh on Twitter and ask him to support your hardware. On the other hand, you are also helping him looking for suggestions on other drivers to add.
